Crave Away Toothpaste

I am so glad to find White Glo Crave Away toothpaste at Watson's MOA. I first learned of this toothpaste while reading Chuvaness' blog. Since then, I have been so eager to buy one. True to what she said, this item rarely hits the shelves. It seems to be always out of stock. One evening while doing some retail therapy before going to work, I happened to pass by Watson's to check if they had this already. Lo and behold, it was there! Only a few pieces though. I bought the trial size to see if it will work for me. This is my toothpaste at work. I forgot to check the box to see if it contains Phentermine 37.5, an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system. The box says Helps Suppress appetite and reduce food cravings. Wonderful, right? It's an appetite control toothpaste, hurrah! My friends have been bugging me about it's taste and if it really works. I've been using for 2 days now. I don't want to say that it's all in the mind. I want to believe that it really works. Now instead of brushing every after meal, before bedtime and upon waking up, I think I wanna brush my teeth 10 times a day. Goodluck to my gums.

Scary...

Again I feel so bad while watching the news. What is happening? First, quite a number of people were killed and injured when a bus exploded along Edsa. Next on the news, workers killed in a Makati construction accident. I would understand if these workers die of cancer Mesothelioma. But no. Their death has been so tragic that they literally fell to their death. Checking the international news now, I see that Jeddah has experienced flooding. I feel sorry for the OFW's who are temporarily living under one of the brides there. Then there's Egypt in the headlines where demonstrators on the streets of Egypt are protesting in order to overthrow their government. Let this be the last, please?

Hello February!

January is about to end. say hello to February, and welcome Valentine's Day. I am now thinking of what to give my husband. I am also wondering what he will be giving me. Woohoo! I hope to receive one of the cubic zirconia rings I found online. I am so in love with ring and bracelet collection that they have. It wouldn't hurt to wish for a cubic zirconia right? This is better than wishing and hoping for another diamond ring. *wink* Okay, maybe a Swarovski bracelet would do. Paging the husband? Can you hear me?

Ouch!

Image via this site
Ouch! I've got a pimple inside my nose. I was caught unaware and now I'm wincing in pain. To add to that, another ouch for me was running my fingers through my hair and there it is - another pimple. Yes, a pimple on my head too. How luck can I get, really? I know that you've experienced this at one time or another. And all you can do is to wince in pain. Friends said that I am lucky enough that my pimple hides in places where no one could find. Haha. True that! I wouldn't want it anywhere else. Not on my face. Not even on my back. I'm glad it isn't acne or else I'll have to find the best acne treatment gel in the market today. Arrgh, pimple(s) be gone!

Pamper Me Day

I had an ultimate pamper me day last Sunday. Manicure, pedicure, foot spa. Whole body massage. Hair rebond. Yes! I finally had the guts to try rebonding. I have an old story to tell about my hair. During my younger years, my hair was long, soft, and shiny. When I reached college, it has all gone away. Not my hair, of course! The luster, shine, and softness bid my hair goodbye. Why? Because I decided to cut it short and take note, decided to go for an undercut with my name JAN shaved. Weirdo? Yes. Rebellious? Nah. I just wanted to give it a try. Since then, I would find ways to bring it back to what it used to be. My hair became wavy since then and unmanageable. The only solution for me is to straighten it out every 6-8 months. A lot of my friends recommended rebonding. I gave it a lot of thought because I thought it wasn't safe. I thought that all the chemicals would harm my hair all the more. I was trying to find the best and safest way. Just like searching for the safest diet pills online. Until I saw my cousing last Sunday having her hair rebonding in the comforts of her own home. I wanted to give it a shot. I also was sure that it was safe because the lady who fixes her hair has a steady stream of clients here in the village. Will post pics soon. And oh, the husband loves my new look.

Medical Terms

image via islandcris
I got a text message this morning from one of my cousins saying she was advised by the doctor to be admitted to the hospital today. Her fever has been on and off for the past 3 days now and rashes are starting to cover her arms and face. Dengue! Her platelet count dropped to 50. She, being a nurse, said that the normal count should be 150. Well, I am not sure if it should be termed that way. I have no idea of what that is. Since I had my new toy with me, I searched online for me to understand it better. I found out that  in an adult, a normal count is about 150000 to 450000 platelets per microliter of blood (via Labtestsonline). I have yet to see the results and start to understand it. Another word I came across today while searching for medical stuff is bovie, which is an instrument used for electrosurgical dissection and hemostasis. Frequently used as a synonym for electrocautery, to Bovie a blood vessel(via Medical Lexicon). Then I came to the word Dengue. To know more about it, click here.

Furniture...

I can't wait for our living room set to be delivered. As much as we want to purchase modern furniture for our living room, the husband and I decided to stick with the simple yet classic one. We canvassed for about a week and finally decided to buy the narra pieces we saw. It goes well with the other stuff we have at home. I love wood and I love arranging and re-arranging stuff. I remember during my younger years, I would always tag along with my mom whenever she would buy stuff for the house. Now, I am faced with a dilemma. Once the furniture arrives, how and where should I place it? One rule I learned from my mom when arranging furniture is to always view the arrangement from where visitors would come from. May it be the front door, the garage door, the garden door or other entrance where your visitors will pass through. Always make it a point that as soon as they enter, there wouldn't be any obstruction blocking their view. Make it as spacious as possible. She is right. It is indeed pleasing to the eye. With the huge narra chairs arriving, I wonder how I can follow her rule. I'll take pictures and share them with you.

Unproductive...

It is now Sunday, January 23, 2011, 1:08am. I've been up for 3 hours now. Yesterday was the most unproductive day for me. I got home at around 9:30am from work. Had one errand to run and that was it. Yes. That was the end of my Saturday. My agenda/to do notebook is as clean as a whistle. No tick marks, no strikethroughs, no nothing. The notebook page is still crisp. What happened? Oh, I just slept from 11am to 10pm on a Saturday. Yes, that long. 11 hrs long. I haven't slept for this long in years, or maybe ages. My supportive husband said he didn't bother to wake me up as he knows that I have been so tired at work the whole week. He just let me be. He knows that during weekdays, the most number of hours I'd sleep through is 4-5. I feel so refreshed at this time. I woke up with our friends having fun in the garden. Weekly get together was scheduled here at home. I even forgot about that. Looking back at my list, I have quite a few that I could do at this time. One of them is to look for cheap car insurance for a friend. I hope I find one while being busy with other online stuff. Another item on my list is to check my inbox. I am expecting and waiting for my travel agent to send me an email re: our Kota Kinabalu accomodations. They haven't sent it yet. Boo! And the list goes on and on and on. Finally, 2 tick marks off the list. I better start doing something now or else it's gonna be another Unproductive day for me.

Diet!

Weight gain after the holidays, check! Dieting after the holidays, No reaction. Haha! I admit I hate exercising. The only exercise I do is to walk briskly from the shuttle terminal or parking lot going to the office building. Another form of exercise for me is going around the mall. Should that be considered? It isn't good for my wallet, too. I want to be fit! I want to be healthy. I want to start now. As in now. There are a lot of diet supplements in the market and I don't know which one to choose or if I ever need them. I need to make a diet supplement comparison list before I consider taking one. I need to visit my doctor too.

Ophiuschus,,, say what now?

image via quazen.comquazen.com
Ophiuchus... What? Say it again, please? Ophiuchus. New word for the day? Nah. It's the newest sign added to the list of what we know as the 12 zodiac signs. Thus, it is now 13. According to this page, this is not something that happened today. This has gone on for thousands of years. Brace yourself and be ready to know your new zodiac sign:

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.
(via TIME)

Some of the attributes that would describe the sign of Ophiuchus are:

• interpreter of dreams, premonitions
• attracts good luck
• serpent holder
• lofty ideals
• a seeker of peace and harmony
• doctor of medicine or science
• to add, increase, join or gather together
• poetical, inventive nature, expanding
• seeks higher education
• overseer, supervisor of work
• fame - either grand or completely misunderstood
• longevity, aspirations of healing the ills of man

More here...  Now, a tricky part here would be pronouncing it. Ow-fee-you-coos. Blah! I never thought that even our zodiac signs could change. Could it be just like repainting your walls at home and renovating your kitchen for your counter to be replaced with new glass tiles? Oh, change... As the saying goes "the only constant in this world is change". Be ready for it. Oh yes, should I consider myself a Sagittarian now?

Sale Alerts!

Browsing through the online pages of ShopCrazy. I see that a lot of stores are having a sale here, there, and everywhere. I'm sure those POS systems will be busy again and those cash registers go "kaching-kaching". Unfortunately, I am on a shopping diet. I have to save up for our trips this year. Yes, you read them right - TRIPS. I'm controlling the urge to visit those stores to buy new stuff. I decided not to splurge but to go shopping out of the country. First stop is Malaysia. Hello, VNC! The thing is TOPSHOP is having its End of Season sale from January 12-February 13. I'm dropping by that store to window-shop *wink*. Wish me luck!

Insurance...

I have no guts to watch the news nowadays. All I see and hear are fare increases, flooding in other parts of the world, catastrophes, and vehicular accidents. What is happening? As much as I would love to be on track with what has been going on in and out of the country, my heart breaks when I watch all these. Just recently, a couple of vehicular accidents involving buses have been reported. Bus contractors and owners should invest much in insurance. I wonder if these bus owners have insurance for their passengers, drivers, and conductors just like one of the lowest Florida auto insurance quotes that I found online. It's high time that our government takes a look into this and do whatever needs to be done.

Good morning! Blogging from my Samsung Galaxy tab. I recently downloaded Blogger-Droid from the Android market. Hope that this application works perfectly fine. I also have downloaded quite a few more applications which I've yet to try. Will blog about it soon.

LocalRoam | Refer friends, get gift

A lot of contest, promos, and discounted rates are being offered online. I am lucky to have googled on LocalRoam. These sites do not just offer food, concert tickets, or gift certificates. They offer a lot. Almost anything under the sun. I have purchased quite a few already. I haven't used any of the deals I got yet, but have given some to my cousins as a gift. They liked/loved it and I am oh.so.happy. These promos give good deals. Imagine 25% off on a 2,000 peso purchase. Other deals give offer 70% at the most. Whoah, that's a whole lot of savings right? I'm on the lookout for discounted wii accessories. I need one, now!

DVD Night

If you have been reading my blog, you'd somehow know that I am not a movie fan. It's not that I do not like watching movies. I just choose the movies I watch. Thursday last week, the husband was watching Inception. Curious at how the movie ended, he requested that we watch it together. I said yes, of course. Not that I want to know or understand how the movie ended, but I thought that this could be another one of the several bonding sessions we have. We watched the film on a Saturday night complete with Soda, popcorn, and hotdog sandwich. This was his request. Who am I to say no? I'd get to watch a good movie with my husband, complete with all the works (food), and in the comfort of our own home. I also love the fact that there are no noisy viewers around. I'd like to watch the film again and make this time make sure to clearly check if one of the cigars I saw was a Cohiba. I'll schedule it next week.

How was your Sunday?

Hello everyone! How did you spend your Sunday? Today, Hubby and I along with another couple went to Tagaytay to relax. Joyride. Food. Fog. Fresh air. First stop was at the Pink Sisters convert to hear mass. I really love going to mass there. Solemn, cool, and breezy. Next stop was at the zoo. I find it so funny, yet cool, when the husband said he wanted to go to the mini zoo at Residence Inn. Funny coz we were all adults -  no kid tagging along with us. Cool coz even at this age, we still get to be like kids, think like kids, but not act like one. That would be a different thing. I'm glad that my husband enjoyed his mini zoo visit. I even challenged him to have his picture taken with the python there. You see, one of his fears are snakes. Whenever he watches The Animal Planet, he covers his eyes with a pillow or anything he could hold on to and slowly peak at the tv screen. I'm so proud that he was able to conquer his fear this time. Thanks to my nagging. Boo! He said that it's gonna be his very first and definitely the last. Fine with me! We went to a lot of different places too, and visited some attractions. The only thing we regret doing is dropping by the Bag of Beans branch. We passed by the place 3 times hoping to find a parking space. But luck wasn't on our side. Maybe next time. With nothing else to do, we just drove everywhere, anywhere to our hearts desire. We even wanted to visit one residential/ hydroponics farm which has fresh and organic produce, coffee farm, and even a butterfly garden. We decided to pass up this time but will definitely be on our list the next time we go to Tagaytay or even Batangas.

Pet Peeves

image via yankeegalscafe

What are pet peeves? As per Wikipedia, a pet peeve (or pet hate) is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly annoying to him or her, to a greater degree than others may find it. I have quite a lot but I feel not sharing everything here. Some of those are:

1. People who drive using their cell phones.
2. People who talk during Movies
3. Saying "I don't know how to do this/that/it" when you actually haven't tried yet.
4. Anybody showing up more than an hour late.
5. Not putting things back to where you got or found them. Just recently the husband felt dizzy and said that he was palpitating. I told him to get his BP checked. You see, the husband is hypertensive so I got this kit for him. I got a bit upset when he said that the sphygmomanometer or manual kit we bought was nowhere to be found in any of the medicine cabinets here at home.
6. Wet door handles.
7. Oily/greasy utensils.
8. Changing the TV channel without asking when anyone is clearly watching.
9. Being put on the speakerphone without warning.
10. People with bad table manners.
11. Someone standing over my shoulder reading the computer screen.
12. People who leave their children in their cars while they run into the store.
13. Mumbling, then annoyedly saying "Forget it!" when people don't hear you.
14. People who don't look at you when they are talking, or you are talking to them.
15. People who borrow stuff and never give it back.

My list could go on and on and on.... I'm starting to get furious just by the thought of it. Care to share yours?

Couples ....

It isn't Valentine's Day yet but I see a lot of couples everywhere. Not just couples, as in couples, partners, lovers, etc. But couples who were coo some twosome, sweet, affectionate towards each other, some were even going for PDA. Watduh! Right before work yesterday, I passed by the mall to check on the stores that had items up on sale for up to 70% off. I saw a couple in one of the stores checking out couple shirts that were on sale. Both were young looking but of age to become partners. They looked cute together. Another couple I saw was at the drugstore when I was buying meds for my dry cough. This couple I could call "The Seniors". Both of them looked like they're in their 70's. Old and gray, they walked hand in hand. Sweet!  They both went to the aisle where medical equipment and supplies were located. The lady was checking on a wheelchair, while her partner checked out on the canes. If the store only sold  medical computer carts, I'm pretty sure they'd check on that one too. I want to be like them. I imagined my husband and I to be like them. It's as if they have lived up to their promise when they tied the knot - til death do us part. Love!

Stressed = DESSERTS

(image taken from this site)
Stressed spelled backwards is DESSERTS. So when I am super stressed out, I head on to a store to buy myself a cheesecake or yogurt topped with mangoes and almonds. Stress be gone! Another way to relieve myself from stress is to go online and do nothing. When I say nothing, it means that I just type in anything on that search box and surf all I want. It's like hitting two birds with one stone. Stress-reliever and learning something new. I also sometimes log in to one website join an online auction. Now, wouldn't be that dangerous (for my wallet and pocket)? Haha. I figured out that it wouldn't help me at all coz all I do is bid, bid, bid. If I win as the highest bidder, it's goodbye moolah for me. That would be more stressful.

Birthdays and Celebrations

The year 2010 has come to an end. Welcome, 2011. As we all welcomed the New Year, we as a family also welcomed January 1, 2011 by greeting my niece, Miranna, a very Happy Birthday! She turned 2 years old on New Year's day. How fast time flies. It just seemed like yesterday when we excitedly cuddled her in our arms. Now that she's grown up, we still do that but not for long. All the weight she has gained makes it impossible to for us to do so. I'm just worried because in a few years time she might ask me "Ninang, can you explain to me what nano cleanse is? Oh boy, our little girl will definitely turn into a fine, young lady in a few years. Her birthday celebration stories will be in another post.

This year, the husband and I invited my parents to celebrate New Year with us. Since my brother and I got married, it is just the two of them at home. My brother invited them over for Christmas Eve's celebration, while my husband and I had them for New Year's eve. Aside from my parents, we also invited my cousins and their kid, my brother, sis-in-law, and Miranna. We also invited friends and their families over for Media Noche. In other words, our house was jam-packed on New Years eve. The more, the merrier.

Hello 2011 !!!

(image via hollywood91)

Happy New Year, everyone! Goodbye and thank you, 2010. Hello 2011! New year, new day, new blessings. Don't let yesterday's failures ruin the beauty of today. Blessings of God are new every morning.

Today's just the second day of 2011, and yet I'm sick.  I'm glad I didn't welcome this at the strike of 12midnight. Though I'm starting the year unwell, I am still looking forward to this. I have a lot of positivity in me. That is one promise I made to myself - Avoid negativity and always welcome positivity.
